Big second half leads Men’s Soccer past Rochester

ROCHESTER, Mich. – A pair of second half goals by Kevin Nimmo and Josue Uquillas leads the Golden Eagles to a 2-0 win at Rochester Tuesday afternoon. Cornerstone earns their first conference win of the season to improve to 2-3-2 overall and 1-0-1 in WHAC play. CU will continue a four game conference road trip with a 4:30 p.m. match at Madonna on Friday night.

Game Flow...
The game started slowly for both sides with a total of only eight total shots in the first half. CU recorded five shots while Rochester recorded just three. Toward the end of the first period the game got more physical, as Cornerstone's Kyle Doornbos and Rochester's Kyle Emmi were each awarded a yellow card.

The Golden Eagles finally found some offense in the middle of the second half when Kevin Nimmo scored an unassisted goal to take a 1-0 lead. Josue Uquillas then added an insurance goal after a red card had been handed out to Rochester in the 70th minute. Allyn Anthony had the assist on Uquillas' goal in the 79th minute that brought the CU lead to 2-0.

That would be all Cornerstone would need, as the defensive held the Warriors in check, allowing just two shots on goal for the match.
