FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles were unable to take down the WHAC leader and No. 9 Indiana Tech Warriors on the road on Saturday, as a great shooting performance by the Warriors resulted in a 23-point loss for CU. Cornerstone ends a season best eight game winning streak, moving to 13-9 overall and 8-4 in the WHAC. CU is set to return home for their next three games, starting this Wednesday vs. Lourdes at 5:30 p.m.
Game Flow
Cornerstone and Indiana Tech traded buckets to start the game, resulting in a 6-6 tie early in the first. The Warriors then went on a 7-0 to pull ahead to a 26-14 lead at the end of the quarter. The Indiana Tech defense then held Cornerstone to just seven points on 3-11 shooting in the second quarter to help them build their lead to 22 points at the half, 43-21. The Warriors could not miss in the half, shooting 57.1% from the field and hitting six threes in the first 20 minutes.
The Golden Eagles found their offense again in the third quarter scoring 16 points in the period, but were unable to find stops allowing the Warriors 16 of their own to remain down by 22. A quick 4-0 run by
Lizzy Otten started the fourth quarter, but Indiana Tech would continue to score at will down the stretch to earn a 73-50 win over the Golden Eagles.
