GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles earned their second consecutive home victory with a 76-57 win over conference foe Madonna Saturday afternoon. Four CU players tallied double figures in the game, while
Lizzy Otten tied a season high with eight assists in the win. Cornerstone is now 15-9 on the year and 10-4 in WHAC play as they get set to host Siena Heights on Wednesday night.
Game Flow
After Madonna scored the first six points of the game,
Cass Vredevoogd would score the first seven for the Golden Eagles. Both team's offenses were dominant in the first quarter, each shooting above 50%, as CU got out to a 22-19 edge. Madonna went on a 10-0 run to begin the second quarter and get out to a five-point lead, but the last six minutes of the quarter were dominated by Cornerstone, as they scored 19 of the final 24 points to gain a 41-32 advantage at the half.
Jesse Sheridan (15) and
Cass Vredevoogd (11) combined for 26 first half points, while
Lizzy Otten tallied six assists in the first 20 minutes.
Cornerstone concluded the first half on an 8-0 run, then started the second half on a 6-0 run, to get out to a 15-point lead early in the period. The deficit was too much to overcome for the Crusaders as the Golden Eagles locked down Madonna in the second half, holding them to just 5-22 shooting from the field for a 22.7% mark.

Taylor Richards each went 3-5 from the field in the second half to help CU get a game high 21-point lead to win 76-57.
