GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles could not overcome the defensive intensity and outside shooting of Siena Heights Wednesday night, as CU fell 73-57 in Mol Arena. This is just the second home loss for Cornerstone this season, as they now move to 15-10 overall and 10-5 in the WHAC on the year. CU will hit the road next for a game at Northwestern Ohio on Saturday before returning home for a matchup with rival Aquinas next Wednesday.
Game Flow
The Golden Eagles were unable to get a bucket from the field to drop for the first 6:21 of the first quarter, ending up in an early 10-2 hole. The offense would then respond to score 15 of the final 22 points in the quarter to tie the game at 17. The Siena Heights defense again came out strong in the second quarter, as they outscored CU 16-8 in the period to take a 33-25 lead into the half.

Jesse Sheridan combined for 15 of Cornerstone's 25 first half points.
Siena Heights carried their momentum into the third quarter, scoring the first nine points of the quarter to record 15 unanswered between the final two minutes of the first half and first three minutes of the second half. Addyson Tomczak could not miss from behind the arc, hitting a total of six threes in the first three quarters for a total of 24 points to get SHU out to a 57-40 advantage. The deficit would increase to a game high 22 in the fourth quarter as CU fell 73-57.
