No. 1 Men’s Basketball closes out Rochester with late run

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Cornerstone faced one of their toughest challenges of the season today and a late run by the Golden Eagles catapulted them to their 17th straight win as they downed Rochester 96-86. The victory lifts CU to 17-2 overall and 9-0 in league play as they will return to Mol Arena on Wednesday when they host Northwestern Ohio at 7:30 p.m.

Game Flow
The opening half was a great display of offense from both sides as the two teams combined for 93 points while shooting over 50% from the floor. Rochester held a slim 47-46 lead after a layup with under five seconds to play and the astounding stat from the opening 20 minutes was both teams finished an identical 8/19 from behind the arc.

After the Warriors connected on a triple to open the second half, CU went on a 14-3 run to lead 60-53. The run was finished by a Christian Rodriguez jumper in the lane and the margin would continue to grow as CU extended their lead to nine after a Tyler Baker three-pointer with 13:40 to play. The Warriors then got hot from behind the arc again and they went up 77-75 with 5:22 to play. After that it was all Cornerstone, led by senior sharp-shooter Michael Bradshaw who finished with 12 of CU's final 21 points as the Golden Eagles closed the game on a 21-9 run.

Say What?
"Rochester is a solid team that came ready to play and had us on our heels on defense. We made some adjustments at the break and played much better team defense in the second half. Michael hit some big shots and our rebounding was great down the stretch" – Head Coach Kim Elders
