Men’s Soccer scores season high four goals in shutout of UM-Dearborn

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Golden Eagles earned their third straight victory, scoring a season high four goals in a 4-0 victory on the road at UM-Dearborn. Cornerstone now moves to 7-7-1, 6-2-0 WHAC with three regular season games remaining. CU will return home on Saturday for their final home regular season match of the year where they will host Cleary for senior day. Cornerstone will honor 10 seniors before Saturday's 7 p.m. kickoff. 

How it happened: 

  • The game remained scoreless for most of the first half until Kachinvya Silwamba scored in the 44th minute on an assist by Benjamin Overholt to go up 1-0 at the break. 
  • CU rode the momentum into the second half, as Logan Johns scored his second goal in as many games in the 58th minute to give Cornerstone a 2-0 lead. 
  • David Mutembezi scored just five minutes later to make the score 3-0. 
  • Allyn Anthony capped off the scoring in the 75th minute off an assist from James Pipe for his second goal of the year. 
  • Zion Abts played the full 90 in net saving all three shots put on net.

  • Zion Abts recorded his third shutout of the season in today's game to tie Joshua Mitchell for a season best. 
  • CU outshot the Wolverines 22-8 on the match. 
  • Cornerstone earned seven corner kick opportunities in the match.
