Saint Francis downs Women’s Basketball 93-44

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Golden Eagles played their third NAIA Top 25/RV opponent of this season on Wednesday and unfortunately suffered the same result, falling 93-44 to No. 14 Saint Francis (Ind.). Cornerstone is now 1-5 overall and 0-4 against Crossroads League opponents this season. CU will continue their road trip with another Crossroads League opponent, taking on Bethel College at 1 p.m. on Saturday. 

What you need to know? 
  • The Saint Francis defensive pressure led to some easy buckets early, as the Cougars were able to garnish a 16-point lead at the end of the first quarter. 
  • USF had a pair of big runs in the second quarter including an 11-2 run to begin the period that helped increase their lead to 57-20 at the half. 
  • CU committed 12 turnovers, while Saint Francis hit eight three pointers in the first half. 
  • Broghan Gamble led the Golden Eagles with five first half points.
  • The Cougars would continue to increase their lead, holding a 77-32 lead at the end of the third. 
  • Katrina Goebel recorded her first career start in place of the injured Taylor Richards and tallied a career high seven points in the 93-44 loss.
