ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The Golden Eagle offense was held to under 50 points for just the second time this season, falling 61-47 in a tough conference road game at Rochester College on Saturday afternoon. Cornerstone has now dropped two straight games, and three of their last four to fall to 16-12, 11-7 WHAC. Regular season action will conclude next week, as CU travels to UM-Dearborn Wednesday and hosts No. 19 Lawrence Tech on Saturday.
Game Flow
Despite scoring the first four points of the game and having the lead for the first five minutes, CU would find themselves down by four at the end of the first quarter. Rochester would then slowly add to their advantage, bringing it to as many as eight, suffocating the Golden Eagle offense to just 11 points in the second quarter. Cornerstone was held to just 7-25 shooting in the half for a 28.0% mark, while
Sydney Muller had a game high seven points.
A three by
Jesse Sheridan to start the third quarter cut the deficit to just five, but once again the Warriors would play great defense and go on a 10-0 run to take a 15-point lead at the end of the period. Neither team could get anything going offensively in the final 10 minutes, as a total of 16 points were scored in the fourth to result in a 61-47 loss for Cornerstone.
