WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Golden Eagles concluded the trip to Florida with a pair of losses to WHAC foe and receiving votes Concordia University. Cornerstone fell 6-3 in game one and 5-2 in game two to move to 12-10 on the year and 3-6 in conference play. CU will return to Grand Rapids now where they will play Spring Arbor for the second time this spring on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
Game 1 – A pair of errors allowed a run to score for each team in the first inning, as Concordia scored in the top half on an RBI single after two CU errors, and
Brady Eeles scored for Cornerstone in the bottom half on a thrown away pickoff attempt by the Cardinals pitcher tying the game at 1-1. Concordia would add two more runs in the top of the second, helped along by another CU error to take a 3-1 lead.

Kyle Herrick and Cardinals starter Marshall Oetting would settle in not allowing a run for the next two innings to keep the score 3-1. Cornerstone would then chip away at the deficit, getting one run back in the bottom of the fourth on a
Jon Stewart groundout that scored
Gabe Zeiger to make it 3-2. A wild pitch in the top of the fifth would quickly bring the CUAA lead back to two runs as Matthew Botti would score to make it 4-2.
Concordia would get two more runs in the top of the sixth, while CU could only muster up one more run in the game resulting in a 6-3 loss for the Golden Eagles.
Game 2 – Concordia would get on the board first in game two on a solo home run by right fielder Jacob Maas. Concordia starter Taylor Parsons would struggle to throw strikes in the second inning, allowing Aaron Krupasnky and
Brady Volmering to score on a bases loaded walk and wild pitch respectively that gave CU the 2-1 lead.
Noah Reed would run into trouble in the top of the third giving up three runs, allowing Concordia to regain the lead at 4-2.
Nick Hill would take over after an early exit from Reed and stop the bleeding for Cornerstone pitching 5.1 innings out of the bullpen allowing just one run. The Concordia bullpen was strong though, stranding 11 Golden Eagle runners to hold on to a 5-2 game two victory.
