FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The pitching that was so good on Friday afternoon went away quickly on Saturday as the Golden Eagles were run-ruled in a 7-inning game on Saturday, 18-3, to Indiana Tech. The loss drops Cornerstone to 12-13 overall and 3-9 in league play. CU will look to rebound from their fifth straight loss as they come back to De Witt Field next weekend where they will host Aquinas in a 3-game series Friday and Saturday.
Recap – The strong pitching from Friday that only allowed six runs to the high-powered Warrior offense was just not there today as CU's pitchers allowed 18 runs on 15 hits over the seven innings of play in a scheduled 9-inning game.Â
CU took the early lead, 1-0, in the top of the first inning as
Jarod Burton doubled home
Brady Eeles, but that would lead to a strong next pair of innings from Indiana Tech as they brought across four runs in the first and nine more in the second to chase Golden Eagle starter
Noah Reed. Eight walks by the four CU pitchers came back to haunt them as Indiana Tech put up three more runs in the 5th inning after CU scored their second run on an
Aaron Krupansky RBI single to score
Trevor Bastien.
