Pipe boosts Men's Soccer past Calumet of St. Joseph

EAST CHICAGO, Ind. – Coming off a 1-0 loss against Indiana Wesleyan on Friday, the Golden Eagles came out swinging on Saturday night against Calumet College of St. Joseph. Three second half goals propelled Cornerstone to their first victory of the season, bringing their overall record to 1-2. The Golden Eagles will be back in action next week Saturday at #RV Spring Arbor.

How it happened:
  • Cornerstone outshot Calumet 10-0 in a scoreless first half.
  • James Pipe buried a penalty kick with 30 minutes to play in regulation.
  • Seconds after Pipe scored, the red-shirt senior fed freshman Christian Galloway who put the ball in the back of the net for the second goal of the night.
  • Five minutes after Galloway scored, Roberto Razo assisted Allyn Anthony's goal to put the game away by a score of 3-0.



This and That:
  • Goalkeeper Joshua Mitchell recorded his first career shutout in net.
  • Christian Galloway tallied his first career goal.
  • Roberto Razo earned his first career assist.
  • Cornerstone had ten shots on goal for only the second time in the past two seasons.

The Golden Eagles will prepare for a tough non-conference road match against #RV Spring Arbor on Saturday, September 1.
