Men's Soccer falls short against St. Xavier

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles returned to their home pitch for the first time in three weeks on Wednesday evening to take on St. Xavier. The Cougars came out victorious by a score of 2-1, handing the Golden Eagles their third one-goal loss of the season.

How it happened:

  • SXU scored 20 minutes into regulation to bring a 1-0 advantage into halftime.

  • Sebastian Ramos netted his first goal of the season with a strike inside the box just five minutes into the second half.

  • The Cougars regained the lead with just a dozen minutes to play in regulation.

  • A flash of lightning delayed play for 30 minutes before the game ended 2-1.

By the Numbers:

  • James Pipe tallied two shots.

  • After being outshot 4-1 in the first half, Cornerstone matched St. Xavier's four shots in the second half.

  • Three of Cornerstone's four losses have been by one goal.

  • Cornerstone had six corner kicks in the second half.
