Senior
Sam Vander Sluis continues his outstanding year, recording a career high 30 points to go along with 16 rebounds against Concordia, helping him earn his fourth WHAC Player of the Week award this season. Vander Sluis is the first CU player to record a 30+ point game since
Kyle Steigenga did it in early February of 2018.
Hot Shooting
The Golden Eagles have been hot offensively as of late, shooting above 50% in each of their last two games. CU has shot over 50% in a total of six games this season including a season best 58.0% at Florida Memorial on December 29.
Scouting UM-Dearborn
After winning the WHAC Tournament Championship last season, UM-Dearborn has struggled to find success in 2018-19 posting a record of 5-13, 3-6 WHAC. Despite the record, the Wolverines have won two of their last three including an upset win over no. 13 Indiana Tech. UM-Dearborn has struggled to find a consistent starting five this season, with 10 different players recording at least one start. The Wolverines have three players averaging 12+ points per game with senior Mafiaion Joyner leading the way with 13.4 PPG. Joyner also leads the team with 9.0 RPG this season. Taylor Langley is the head coach of UM-Dearborn and is in his fifth season at the helm.
Scouting Indiana Tech
Former CU assistant Ted Albert and his Indiana Tech Warriors have had an up and down season at 11-8, 7-2 WHAC. Similarly to the Wolverines, the Warriors have had 10 players get at least one start this season. As a team, IIT is one of the best in the country in rim protection, with an NAIA DII ninth best 67 blocks on the year. Logan Primerano and Dylan Phair are the only two players to start all 19 games for the Warriors and they each average 15+ points per game. Senior Darren Groves has started 13 of 16 and is averaging a double-double on the year with 13.0 PPG and 10.2 RPG.
