UPLAND, Ind. – The Golden Eagles played their fourth game of the week on Friday afternoon at 15th-ranked Taylor University. Cornerstone narrowed the deficit to single digits late in the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell short by a score of 76-67. The Golden Eagles (1-4) will continue their tough non-conference stretch tomorrow afternoon at receiving-votes Huntington. Tip-off is slated for noon.
What happened:
- After Ellen Kresge started the game with a three-pointer, the Trojans proceeded to score the game's next 15 points en route to a 21-11 lead after one quarter.
- The Golden Eagles cut the deficit down to as low as seven in the second quarter, but the Trojans doubled Cornerstone's 23 points with a 46 spot over the first two quarters.
- Broghan Gamble drilled two three-pointers in the first half.
- Kennedy Helderop scored seven points in the third quarter as CU equaled Taylor's 15 points in the third frame.
- Cornerstone outscored Taylor 29-15 in the fourth quarter to whittle the lead down to single digits, but the Trojans hung on for a 76-67 decision.
