ADRIAN, Mich. – Cornerstone fought valiantly but ultimately fell to the Saints of Siena Heights 71-56.
Shelby Nyboer led the way for the Golden Eagles with 18 points and 7 rebounds and
Rebekah Crosby chipped in with 13 points of her own. With the loss, CU falls to 1-9 on the year and 0-2 in the WHAC. Cornerstone will be back at Mol Arena this Saturday for a 1 pm tipoff against #4 Indiana Tech.
Game Flow
- Both squads traded buckets in the first quarter, with Rebekah Crosby draining a three with 10 seconds remaining to draw the Golden Eagles within one point of the Saints at 14-13.
- Siena Heights turned up the pressure offensively in the second, shooting 9-16 in the quarter. Cornerstone were unable to match the pace offensively, going 5-17 and falling behind 38-26 at the half.
- The Golden Eagle offense came out of the break cold, turning the ball over six times and shooting 3-12 in the third. Siena Heights was able to stretch their lead an additional four points, taking a 50-36 lead into the fourth.
- The offenses for both sides erupted in the fourth, with Cornerstone outscoring Siena Heights 22-21 in the final frame. After the dust settled, the CU's charge was held off by the Saints, handing CU their ninth straight loss by a score of 71-56.
