Volleyball ends regular season with 3-0 sweep at Concordia

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Cornerstone ends the season with a season long four game winning streak, defeating Concordia in three sets; 25-20, 25-12, 25-16. CU finishes the regular season with a 15-16, 12-8 WHAC record as they get set for the WHAC Tournament starting next Wednesday. The conference has yet to announce the official seeding for the conference tournament, but CU will play on the road on Wednesday, November 13 for the WHAC Quarterfinal. 
 
Game Recap – CU – 3 CUAA – 0 (25-20, 25-12, 25-16)
  • Cornerstone got out to a quick 7-3 lead highlighted by a kill from Jackie Stanko in set one. 
  • Concordia responded to tie the set at nine on an attacking error by Bailey Cummings
  • The Golden Eagles responded to win set one 25-20 on a service ace from Bailey Cummings
  • CU dominated set two, scoring the last seven points to win 25-12. 
  • Alexis Angus recorded three of the seven points in the run on kills. 
  • Alexis Angus continued her dominant play in set three recording a kill to help CU get out to an 8-2 lead. 
  • Attack errors by the Cardinals helped Cornerstone coast to a set three victory 25-16 and win the match in straight sets. 
 


By the Numbers 
  • Cornerstone hit a season high .760 percentage in set two, recording 20 kills to just one error in the set. 
  • 12 different Golden Eagle players saw the floor in the three-set win. 
  • Alexis Angus led the team with 10 kills, Kayla Clark led the team with 32 assists, and Patsy Morris recorded a team high 20 digs. 
 
What's Next?
Cornerstone is set to open postseason play in the WHAC Quarterfinal as their opponent has yet to be announced by the WHAC but the match will take place on Wednesday, November 13.
