GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles were in it late, but ultimately fell to the UNOH Racers by a score of 71-60.
Broghan Gamble had a strong game for CU, putting up 16 points to go along with 6 rebounds. With the loss, CU are still in search of their first WHAC victory. Their next opportunity will come this Saturday as they welcome 7-4 (1-2 WHAC) UM-Dearborn to Mol Arena. Tip-off is set for 1 pm and live links are available at cugoldeneagles.com
Game Flow
- A back and forth first quarter saw CU jump out to an early 7-4 lead. The Racers turned up the pressure, changing to a trapping zone defense. The move paid off as UNOH jumped out to a 19-12 lead at the end of one.
- The Golden Eagles bounced back in the second, chipping away at the Racer lead. A late pair of free throws by Sterling DeGayner made it 33-29 UNOH, heading into halftime.
- Both teams traded baskets throughout the third, with neither team able to gain any ground. Heading into the fourth, UNOH held a 47-43 lead.
- CU pushed hard in the fourth, but the Racers were able to capitalize on the Golden Eagle aggression. UNOH knocked down a handful of late free throws to push their lead to 11 and grab a 71-60 win.

- Sterling DeGayner set a career-high today with 9 assists. She is the first Golden Eagle to have 8+ assists in a game since Lizzy Otten had 8 against Madonna on 1/28/18.
- The Golden Eagles grabbed 40 rebounds on the night, outpacing UNOH's tally of 39. CU is now 1-2 when outrebounding their opponent.
- Cornerstone dished out 16 assists as team, their highest tally all season.
- CU lost the turnover battle tonight, coughing the ball up 17 times in comparison to 15 giveaways from UNOH.
