LAKE MYRTLE, Fla. – The Golden Eagles continued their hot start in Florida earning a 4-3 win over Grace College and a 12-3 victory over Trinity Baptist College. CU was very balanced all day recording 21 hits offensively while the pitching staff recorded 19 strikeouts. With the wins, CU is 3-0 on the trip to Florida and 3-4 overall. Tomorrow will be a day off for Cornerstone before getting back in action with a double-header vs. Judson on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Game One
- CU saw runners on early and often, loading the bases in each of the first two innings. Trenton Gilman scored in the first after a strikeout passed ball and Brandon Hepp scored in the second after a ground out to give Cornerstone a 2-0 lead.
- Starting pitcher Noah Reed struggled with walks early allowing four in the first three innings, but he would make up for it striking out six batters and allowing just one run to help CU lead 2-1 after three innings of play.
- Cornerstone added an insurance run back in the fourth after Austin Hurt recorded his first collegiate hit with a triple to left center, Eric Bradberry singled to score the runner and give the Golden Eagles the 3-1 lead.
- Jon Marin took over for Noah Reed on the hill and struggled allowing Grace to score two and tie the game 3-3.
- Clayton Coatney came in and recorded the final out of the sixth to keep the game tied at three.
- CU got the run back after a Grace fielding error allowed Aaron Krupansky to come home from second, regaining the lead 4-3.
- Clayton Coatney returned to record the final three outs and earn his first career win 4-3 over the Lancers.
Game Two
- Chandler McKinney made the start for CU and got off to a great first inning, throwing just five pitches to get three outs in the top of the first.
- In the bottom of the first, CU found the scoreboard on a soft line drive single to left that scored Aaron Krupansky.
- CU continued to hit the ball well in the burton second inning, scoring four runs in the second highlighted by a Jarod Burton single that scored Gabe Zeiger to lead 5-0. Jarod
- After being held scoreless in the third, CU added another run in the fourth as Jarod Burton continued to bring in runs hitting an RBI single that scored Chase Mitchell.
- Aaron Krupansky added to the scoring with a bases loaded single up the middle scoring two more runs to give Cornerstone the 9-0 lead. Chase Mitchell would then score on a fielder's choice to give CU the 10-0 advantage after five innings of play.
- Chandler McKinney's strong outing came to an end in the sixth as Andrew VanDyke came in to get the final out of the sixth after Trinity Baptist scored two runs.
- Cornerstone increased the lead back to 10 in the bottom of the inning however on RBI singles from Gabe Zeiger and Aaron Krupansky.
- VanDyke returned for one more out and then Jared Riley closed out the game as CU went on to win 12-3.

What's Next?
Cornerstone will take Sunday off and then pick up action against Judson on Monday at 9:30 a.m. for a double-header at Osceola Heritage Park.
