KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Cornerstone and Trinity Christian concluded their four-game series in Kissimmee, Florida splitting a pair of close games. CU got the win in game one 12-8 in extra innings and Trinity Christian got the win 4-3 in game two after scoring two in the top of the seventh to complete the comeback. The Golden Eagles are now 5-10 on the year as they will conclude the trip to Floirda with a double-header against Robert Morris (Ill.) tomorrow night in Lake Myrtle Park.
Game One
- CU got off to a fast offensive starts with three hits and a walk in the top of the first that led to a pair of RBI singles from Jarod Burton and Trenton Gilman that gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead.
- Trinity Christian quickly responded with an RBI single from the catcher Jake Tholl that cut the CU lead to 2-1.
- Cornerstone got that run back in the top of the second, as Cain Ruiz scored on an error by the Trolls third baseman making it 3-1.
- TCC then cut it back to one in the bottom of the second, on yet another RBI single from Jake Tholl.
- A sloppy bottom of the third inning that saw two CU errors helped Trinity Christian score five in the inning and take their first lead of the game at 7-3.
- After two scoreless innings for both teams, CU got to the Trinity Christian starter scoring five runs in the top of the fifth that was highlighted by a bases clearing three RBI double from Dustin DeBeau to tie the game at 7-7. Jarod Burton then brought in the run that gave Cornerstone the lead back on an RBI single to left field.
- Brett Shure looked to close out the game in the bottom of the seventh, but a two out error and a pair of wild pitches allowed the Trolls to tie the game at 8-8 and bring it to extras.
- CU quickly got runs back in the beginning of extra's scoring a run on a sacrifice fly by Dustin DeBeau and then added an insurance run on an RBI single from Aaron Krupansky to lead 10-8.
- An error by the TCC shortstop allowed two more runs to score in the top of the eight helping CU to a 12-8 lead entering the bottom of the inning.
- Brett Shure returned for the bottom of the eighth and would allow runners to get to second and third, but he was able to close it out and earn the win 12-8.
Game Two
- Jared Riley earned his first career start for CU and pitched well in the first allowing just one run after an error by Trenton Gilman.
- Cornerstone found the scoreboard in the third inning, as Kyle DeSchryver came in and scored on an Eric Bradberry groundout to tie the game 1-1.
- Aaron Krupansky immediately followed that with an RBI single that scored Cain Ruiz to give CU their first lead 2-1.
- Jared Riley ran into his first trouble since the first inning in the fifth, allowing a run to score on a sacrifice fly that tied the game at 2-2.
- After a Kyle DeSchryver double in the bottom of the sixth, Brandon Hepp pinch ran and stole third then came home on a sacrifice fly by Cain Ruiz to give CU the lead back at 3-2.
- Clayton Coatney looked to close out the W for CU in the top of the seventh after coming in to start the sixth, but he was unable to allowing Trinity Christian two runs to take the lead back at 4-3.
- CU had the top of the lineup due up for the bottom of the seventh but they would be sat down 1-2-3 to end the game.

Jarod Burton recorded the most hits for CU on the day with five, three in game one and two in game two.

Dustin DeBeau led the team with four RBI on the day all coming in game one.
3-3 – Kyle DeShryver started game two and went 3-3 with two singles and a double.

Jared Riley went five innings strong in his first collegiate start, allowing just two hits and one earned run.

Cornerstone will conclude the spring break Florida trip back at Lake Myrtle Park tomorrow night to take on another CCAC opponent in Robert Morris (Ill.) at 4:15 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.
