GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles suffered a tough pair of losses on Friday afternoon, losing 15-3 in seven innings in game one and 8-2 in game two. Cornerstone could not get anything going offensively, scoring just five runs on 12 hits for the day. CU now drops to 14-23, 7-9 WHAC as they travel to UM-Dearborn for a crucial WHAC series tomorrow starting at 12 p.m. The double-header will be played at Wayne State University in Detroit.
Game One
- Concordia got off to a fast start against the Golden Eagles scoring two runs on a two RBI single from the right fielder Preston Sherman.
- The pitching struggles continued for CU in the top of the second, as the Cardinals chased starter Chandler McKinney out of the game, scoring five runs on five hits highlighted by an RBI double from Ethan Vosburg to lead 7-0.
- Concordia added one more run in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly from Matthew Botti that made the score 8-0.
- Cardinals starting pitcher Jimmy McKane was dominant early allowing just one hit in the first three innings, including two 1-2-3 innings of work.
- Chris Lowe hit an RBI single for Concordia in the top of the fifth to increase the lead to 9-0.
- CUAA starter Jimmy McKane was relieved after five innings of work, allowing just two hits while striking out six as the Cardinals continued to hold a 9-0 lead. Cornerstone scored their first run of the game on the Cardinals reliever Elijah Abenth after Aaron Krupansky came home on a wild pitch to make the score 9-1.
- Concordia added six runs in the top of the seventh. Cornerstone was only able to get two back in the bottom of the seventh on an Austin Hurt two RBI single, resulting in a 15-3 mercy rule loss for the Golden Eagles.
Game Two
- Concordia once again got on the board first in game two after Chris Lowe came in to score thanks to an error and a passed ball to make the score 1-0 after the top of the first.
- After a two out single, Concordia added another run with an RBI double by the catcher Justin Mercer to make it 2-0.
- The Golden Eagle offense continued to struggle to find the scoreboard, getting runners on the corners in both the second and third inning but they were unable to score, keeping the deficit at 2-0.
- Aaron Krupansky sparked the offense in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run homerun to left field that tied the game at 2-2. The HR was Krupansky's second career bomb.
- In the top of the seventh, Starter Collin Young loaded the bases after a phenomenal first six innings and it resulted in Alan Labov being called upon to enter the game. The first batter Labov faced recorded a two RBI single to help Concordia regain the lead 4-2.
- Concordia added one more run on a wild pitch in the top of the seventh to increase their lead to 5-2.
- The Cardinals continued to add insurance runs with a two RBI single from Justin Mercer in the top of the eighth that made it 7-2.
- Jeremy Praski came in and pitched the ninth inning. He gave up one run on a groundout that increased the Concordia lead to 8-2.
- Cornerstone was unable to muster up any runs for an attempt at a comeback in the bottom of the ninth falling 8-2.

Cornerstone will hit the road tomorrow to take on UM-Dearborn for a conference double-header. The games will be played at Wayne State University starting at 12 p.m.
