GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles concluded their weekend with a split at WHAC opponent Rochester College. CU lost game one 10-9 in 10 innings and then won game two 8-6 in eight innings as it ended early due to darkness. Cornerstone is now 13-18, 6-6 WHAC as they will return home to host Siena Heights on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
Game One
- The Cornerstone offense got a good start, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning on a Trenton Gilman two RBI base hit up the middle.
- CU scored four more runs in the top of the second, including a two RBI double from Aaron Krupansky, an RBI groundout from Jarod Burton, and a Gabe Zeiger RBI single to lead 6-0.
- After three strong innings from starter Chandler McKinney, CU made a pitching change in the fourth and Andrew VanDyke came in to pitch.
- Rochester scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut their deficit to 6-3. Brett Shure then came in to pitch looking to get out of the bottom of the fourth, but RC scored three more times to make it 6-6.
- Brandon Hepp gave the Golden Eagles the lead back in the top of the sixth with an RBI double to make it 7-6.
- The Warriors tied the game again in the bottom of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly, making it 7-7.
- Rochester then took their first lead later in the sixth inning with an RBI double to go on top 8-7.
- In the top of the ninth Dustin DeBeau recorded a clutch RBI single to tie the game 8-8.
- Aaron Krupansky held Rochester scoreless in the seventh, eighth, and ninth inning to keep the game tied at 8-8.
- Joe Corsten got CU back on top in the top of the 10threcording his 100thcareer RBI, driving in Cain Ruiz.
- Krupansky was unable to keep the lead in the bottom of the 10thas Rochester would score two runs and earn a walk-off sacrifice fly to win 10-9 in game one.
Game Two
- Daniel Abbgy got the start in game two, but would only pitch 0.2 of an inning after giving up a first inning run to Rochester.
- After a few scoreless innings for the Golden Eagles, the offense began to take over scoring two runs on a Trevor Bastien single to go on top 2-1 in the top of the fourth.
- Austin Hurt then highlighted the offensive showcase in the top of the fourth with a three-run homerun to put CU on top 5-1.
- The Golden Eagles then scored two more runs in the top of the fourth for a total of seven in the inning to flip the script and lead 7-1.
- Cornerstone held the 7-1 lead throughout the game and was able to add a run in the top of the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Dan Sewak that scored Austin Hurt.
- Rochester responded with five runs in the bottom of the eighth to cut the deficit to two at 8-6.
- The game would be called at the end of the eighth however due to darkness resulting in an 8-6 win for the Golden Eagles.

Joe Corsten became the second Golden Eagle in program history with 100 career RBI, bringing home a run in extra innings of game one.

Austin Hurt hit a three run HR for his second bomb of the season to lead the team.

Cornerstone will return home to face Siena Heights on Friday for a WHAC double-header starting at 1 p.m.
