Men's Soccer earns first win with 5-0 shutout at IU-Northwest

GARY, Ind. – The Golden Eagles concluded non-conference play on Saturday evening at Indiana University Northwest. After coming up short in two competitive matches last week, Cornerstone came out victorious by a score of 5-0. The win brings the Golden Eagles to a 1-5-1 record heading into next week Saturday's WHAC opener at Concordia.

The Highlights:
  • Junior Micah Boggs recorded his first career goal just three minutes into the contest.
  • The Golden Eagles recorded a whopping 17 shots in the first half.
  • Christian Galloway scored his first goal of the season in the 51st minute of action.
  • David Mawi and Isai Ordonez each tallied their first goals in Cornerstone uniforms in the 55th and 71st minutes, respectively.
  • Freshman Colton Fair put the finishing touches on the scoring by tallying his second of the season in the 77th minute.
  • Goalkeeper Zion Abts made his first appearance of the season after subbing in late in the second half.

5 - Largest margin of victory since a 7-0 shutout victory over Fisher's College on August 31, 2015, and largest under Steve Herdsman's tenure as head coach.
9 - Nine different players have scored goals this year for CU after five different players scored tonight.
12 - Twelve players recorded a shot for Cornerstone, led by Micah Boggs with four.
28 - Most shots recorded by the Golden Eagles in nearly six years (29 vs. UM-Dearborn on 9/28/13)
1-5-1 - Cornerstone's record mirrors last year's seven-game start heading into conference play, where the 2018 team had a 7-4 record.
