Men's Soccer shut out by Lourdes in season opener

SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Men's Soccer kicked off their season at Lourdes on Saturday night. After surrendering two goals in the first half and another in the second, the Golden Eagles fell by a score of 3-0. The team will continue their five-game fall schedule with a home contest against Concordia next Saturday afternoon. 

The Highlights:
  • Lourdes struck first just ten minutes into the contest with a through ball that led to a 1-on-1 goal. 
  • The Gray Wolves doubled their lead with another goal late in the first half. 
  • Cornerstone had one of four first-half corner kick opportunities with less than a minute to play in the first frame, but the chance came up empty. 
  • Lourdes added their third tally in the 71st minute to make it 3-0. 
 


By the Numbers:
3 – Lourdes had three different players with yellow cards. 
8 (1) – Of Cornerstone's eight shots, only one was on goal. 
2 – David Dwumfour-Poku, Allan Barrientos, and Jason Lugo all had two shot attempts. 
4 – Four players made their Cornerstone debuts: Alan Mendoza, Caleb Griffith, Nate Kaercher and Jason Lugo

What's next? 
Cornerstone will prepare for their first home contest of the season, which is scheduled for October 10 at 4:30 p.m. against Concordia.
