Another Sweep! Women's Volleyball Takes Down Lawrence Tech

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Another WHAC opponent, another sweep for the Golden Eagles as they take down Lawrence Tech. This match was tight and hard fought as CU was able to win each of the three sets by three points or less 25-23, 25-22, 25-22. Cornerstone is back above .500 with an 11-10 record, 6-2 in the WHAC.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 LTU – 0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22)
  • Aubrey Lenz continued to be an ace machine for the Golden Eagles as her ace early in the first set put CU up 7-4.
  • LTU fought hard in this set, going on a 5-0 run punctuated by back-to-back aces by Shelby Rasch.
  • After some back-and-forth play, LTU went on a second 5-0 run that was a result of four CU errors.
  • With the Blue Devils up 23-20, Cornerstone went on a 5-0 run of their own that started with two Kaylee Dykema kills followed by three Dykema-Lenz blocks to win the set for the Golden Eagles.
  • After being up 8-4 early in the second set, LTU gave up nine of the next ten points to CU behind three in a row by Rylie Walters to put the Golden Eagles up 13-9.
  • After more back-and-forth play, and CU up 22-17, the Blue Devils went on a 5-0 run to even up the score at 22-22.
  • The Golden Eagles then went on a 3-0 run to win the set following an Olivia Keelean ace.
  • The third set was full of many 2-3 point runs by both teams before a four-point run put CU up 14-13. 
  • Later in the set, LTU went on a 4-0 run of their own to take a 21-20 lead. 
  • CU finished the set as they had all night long, by going on a run. After being tied 22-22, the Golden Eagles rattled off three straight points to win the set 25-22.

Cornerstone will take I-75 N to take on Rochester tomorrow, Saturday, October 2 at 1 p.m. followed by a neutral court tilt against Goshen at 3 p.m.
