GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Sweep. That is the name of the game for the Golden Eagles at home against WHAC opponents. CU knocked off (RV) Madonna 3-0. Despite the sweep, this was a tightly contested match with CU winning 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 in the three-setter. Cornerstone moves their record to 12-10, 7-2 in the WHAC.

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Madonna – 0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-22)
- In tight first set, CU and Madonna were back-and-forth with Madonna going up a point and CU matching.
- That ended after a Rylie Walters kill to even the score at 10-10.
- There were multiple three-point runs by both teams, with Madonna securing the first one to go up 13-10.
- The Golden Eagles went on their own 3-0 run, capped by an Olivia Keelean ace to take a 16-15 lead.
- The Crusaders immediately went a 3-0 run due in part to three straight CU errors as Madonna took an 18-16 lead.
- A Cornerstone 4-0 run that finished with a Walters kill put the Golden Eagles up 22-19.
- After Madonna secured the next point, CU won the next three points to win the set 25-20.
- The Crusaders got off to a hot start in the second set, going up 12-6 early.
- Each team had 3-0 runs to move the score to 15-9 in favor of Madonna.
- That's when the Rylie Walters run began, as she started a 10-0 CU run with a kill, followed by ten straight serves to put CU up 19-15
- During that run, Walters registered three aces, benefitted from four MU attacking errors, a few CU kills.
- The rest of the set was a back-and-forth affair until Rylie Walters ended the second set with a kill to win it 25-23.
- With MU up 4-1 early in the third set, CU rattled off three points in a row to tie up the set at 4-4.
- The Crusaders had a 3-0 run of their own to go up 9-5 after a Molly Miller kill.
- 3-0 streaks were a theme in this match as CU responded with their own run after being 10-6 to cut the MU lead to 10-9.
- Cornerstone took their first lead of the third set 13-12 after a Rylie Walters ace.
- The rest of the match was back-and-forth before a 3-0 run gave CU a 24-21 lead.
- After Madonna took the next point, Olivia Keelean ended the match with a kill to take the third set 25-22.

Cornerstone will head to Marion, Indiana for a pair of non-conference games this Friday, October 8. CU will take on St. Francis (IL) at 5 p.m., followed by #21 Indiana Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m.
