GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – It was too little too late for the Golden Eagles on senior day, as
Jeff Herrema scored to put CU up 1-0, but they gave up three unanswered goals before getting one back late to fall 3-2 to Lourdes. Cornerstone ends the 2021 regular season with a 4-12-1 record and 3-7-0 WHAC record as they will await their fate for the WHAC Tournament with those seedings and pairings to be announced tomorrow afternoon.
The Highlights:
- Lourdes and Cornerstone traded a shot each in the first five minutes.
- Cornerstone then took over offensively, as Jeff Herrema found the net on a rebound from another shot from Christian Galloway to make it 1-0 in the 18th minute.
- Lourdes started to take over 25 minutes in and found an equalizer on a goal from the Gray Wolves leading scorer Farouk Amoo.
- The game sat tied at 1-1 after 45 minutes of play.
- In the 49th minute, Lourdes took their first lead as Diego Pereira found the net to make it 2-1.
- Lourdes continued to pour it on, as Leon Eisert found the net in the 55th minute to make it 3-1.
- It was too little too late as Chana Batan found the net on an assist from Boston Knapp to make it 3-2 in the 89th minute.
- Cornerstone was unable to complete the comeback as they fell 3-2 to Lourdes on Senior Day to drop to 4-12-1, 3-7-0 WHAC to conclude the regular season.
