GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – CU hosted Senior Day at Mol Arena as the Golden Eagles took down Lawrence Tech 3-0. Cornerstone started off the match hot and were consistent all the way through.
Kaley Vaughn,
Kayla Sauers, and
Mia Kahler, the team's three seniors, were honored before the match and all saw playing time in this one. With the win, Cornerstone moves their record to 21-12, 13-3 in the WHAC.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Lawrence Tech – 0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-17)
- Both team got off to strong starts, with CU making the first 3-0 run to take an 8-6 lead early in the first set.
- Down 8-11, LTU had a 3-0 run of their own to even the set at 11 apiece.
- Again, down three, LTU went on another 3-0 run to even the set at 15-15.
- Cornerstone responded with a three-point run of their own, capped by an Olivia Keelean kill, to take an 18-15 lead, and did not look back from there.
- After LTU took the next point, Cornerstone rattled off the next seven points to win the set 25-16. Multiple LTU attacking errors helped that run last.
- In the second set, CU got off to a hot start, building an early 6-2 lead off of kills by Olivia Keelean and Jada Thomas.
- Then, Lawrence Tech went on a 3-0 run to cut the lead to 6-5.
- After multiple two point runs by CU, the Golden Eagles had built up a 13-8 lead.
- LTU responded with a 5-0 run to even up the second set at 13 apiece.
- Next, both teams traded off 3-0 runs to be tied again at 16-16.
- Then, with CU up 19-18, the Golden Eagles went on a 6-0 run to finish of the second set 25-18.
- LTU jumped out to a 3-1 lead to begin the third set, but a 5-0 run by CU, capped by a Regan Vaughn ace, gave the Golden Eagles a 9-6 lead.
- Lawrence Tech went on a run of their own, scoring four-straight points to take a 10-9 lead.
- After a lot of back-and-forth play, and the Golden Eagles up 19-16, CU decided to put the match away, winning six of the final seven points, to win the third set 25-17.

Cornerstone heads to Ann Arbor to take on Concordia University this Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. for their second-to-last regular season WHAC contest.
