GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles hung tough with rival Aquinas as the two teams traded leads 16 times. CU ultimately fell in overtime however 68-57 as Aquinas hit two huge threes. With the loss, Cornerstone falls to 1-5, 0-2 WHAC on the year as they will hit the road on Wednesday for their first WHAC road action at Lawrence Tech for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
Game Flow:
- Cornerstone took their first lead of the game on a Kaycee Sluiter jumper to go on top 6-4.
- Mackenzie Stien capped off a 10-0 Golden Eagle run with a layup inside.
- Cornerstone led by five at the end of the first 15-10.
- Emma Costen hit a three early in the second quarter that gave CU a seven-point lead at 18-11.
- Aquinas responded with a 9-0 run to regain the lead 20-18.
- Cornerstone ended the half with four threes' as Jaylee Long and Kennedy Helderop each hit one and Olivia Kubik hit two to give Cornerstone the 30-23 advantage at the half.
- The first eight minutes of the third quarter was owned by Aquinas as they went on a 18-6 run to take a 41-36 lead.
- Kaycee Sluiter made a jumper with 34 seconds to play in the third to cut the deficit to two at the end of three.
- Cornerstone did an outstanding job of locking up the AQ center Marissa Brady for three quarters, but she started to get going in the fourth with two early buckets to bring the score to 47-41 Saints.
- Mackenzie Stien again came up huge with an and-one that gave Cornerstone the lead back 48-47.
- Jaylee Long hit a three with under a minute to go that gave CU a 55-53 lead and looked like it could have given them the victory, but once again center Marissa Brady found the bucket inside tying things at 55 and forcing overtime.
- In overtime, Cornerstone went back to doubling Brady down low. Brady did an outstanding job finding the right pass however as the Saints hit back-to-back threes that put the game away, 68-57.

Mackenzie Stien led the team with 19 points, nine of those coming from the free-throw line.
15 – Both teams ended the game with 15 assists.
32-20 – Cornerstone was outscored by 12 points in the paint in today's game.
