ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Golden Eagles continue to see second half struggles as they were outscored by 16 points in the final 20 minutes to drop their fifth straight game, 74-64 at Concordia. Cornerstone is now 1-8, 0-5 WHAC as they will have the rest of the holiday week off for Thanksgiving break. Cornerstone returns to action back inside Mol Arena vs. Rochester on Saturday, December 4 at 1 p.m.
Game Flow:
- Ellen Kresge got the Golden Eagles off to a great start scoring four of CU's first six points to take a 6-0 lead.
- Samantha Dorn hit a layup for Concordia to tie the game at six.
- Both defenses were strong in the first quarter but Maddison Fulks and Kennedy Helderop each hit a three to go on top 12-9. CUAA scored the final four points of the first quarter to hold a 13-12 lead.
- The start of the second quarter was dominated by Cornerstone as they went on an 11-0 run that was capped off by an Olivia Kubik to go up 23-13.
- Concordia immediately responded with a 9-0 run that cut the Golden Eagle lead back to one with 3:17 to play in the half.
- Mackenzie Stien went 1-2 at the free throw line to end the half as Cornerstone held a 30-24 advantage at the break.
- Cornerstone brought the lead back to nine on a Kaycee Sluiter layup early in the third quarter.
- The Golden Eagle third quarter woes continued as Concordia went on a 10-0 run to regain the lead 36-35.
- The two teams traded points in the final minutes of the third, as the Cardinals led 43-41 with 10 minutes to play.
- An Alize Tripp bucket and two free throws for Mackenzie Howe of Concordia put the Cardinals up six in the first minute of the fourth quarter.
- Concordia continued to increase their lead in the fourth increasing their lead to the largest of the game at 11, 59-48.
- Zaria Mitchner hit a layup that continued the Cardinals assault making it a 15-point game with 3:57 to play. \
- A Jaylee Long three-ball cut the deficit to single-digits, but Cornerstone was unable to come back, falling 74-64.
