SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Golden Eagles hit the road on Monday evening to take on Lawrence Tech. Cornerstone played strong on both ends of the court, scoring 80 points while racking up a program record 12 blocks defensively. The Golden Eagles led for all 40 minutes of action on their way to an 80-62 victory to bring their record to 12-4 overall, 9-2 WHAC. The team will conclude the regular season with a 7:30pm home game against Rochester tomorrow evening inside Mol Arena.
What you need to know:
- The first three CU buckets were all from beyond the arc, as Christian Rodriguez buried a pair and Riley Costen followed with a long ball of his own.
- A layup from Kyle Hayes with 7:49 to play in the first half gave the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the first half, 26-12.
- Riley Costen scored all nine of Cornerstone's points in the final three minutes of the first half to give CU a 43-31 lead at the break.
- Tyler Baker got the second half started with a three-pointer to push Cornerstone's lead to 15.
- A dunk from Carter Nyp with 15:37 to go capped off a 12-2 scoring run for CU, extending their lead to 21 points, 58-37.
- Kyle Hayes scored nine points in the final 5:11 of action to seal an 80-62 victory for the Golden Eagles.
