Women’s Volleyball rebounds with sweep of UNOH

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles made quick work of the UNOH Racers with a 3-0 sweep, going 25-12, 25-11, 25-11 in just 55 minutes of action. CU hit a season high .347, their best mark since 2018, and committed a season low eight attacking errors in the win. Cornerstone now improves to 13-2, 9-1 WHAC on the year as they will continue conference play at Rochester tomorrow at 1 p.m. 

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 UNOH – 0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-11)
  • Cornerstone scored the first eight points of set one, highlighted by kills from Bailey Cummings and Alexis Angus plus a service ace from Kayla Clark
  • UNOH cut the deficit to just six, before rattled off another 6-0 run that saw a pair of kills from Jackie Stanko
  • The Racers had nine attack errors in set one and hit -.154 as CU won 25-12. 
  • In set two the Racers hung tough early, but Cornerstone went on their biggest run of the day at 12-0 to go on top 24-8. Kayla Clark was on the serve for the run and recorded a pair of aces, and Alexis Angus saw three consecutive kills. 
  • UNOH scored three straight points before CU finished them off with a kill from Hannah Klepal to win set two 25-11. 
  • Set three was much of the same as Cornerstone got out to an 11-5 advantage after a pair of Jackie Stanko kills. 
  • Another 8-0 run by CU brought the advantage to 20-8 as Bailey Cummings recorded two more kills to add to her total. 
  • Bailey Cummings then capped of the victory with a kill to take set three 25-11 and win the match in under an hour.
 
 

By the Numbers 
.444/.347 – Cornerstone hit a game high .444 in set two and hit a season high .347 for the match. 
12 – Bailey Cummings led the team with 12 kills. 
25/20 – Kayla Clark recorded 25 assists, putting her just 20 away from 3,000 in her career. 
.692 – Jackie Stanko hit a ridiculous .692 on nine kills in 13 attempts. 
8 – Olivia Keelean led the team with eight digs. 
 
What's Next?
Cornerstone hits the road tomorrow to take on WHAC foe Rochester for the first time this season. Match set to begin at 1 p.m.
