GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Freshman forward
Nate Kaercher showed off his speed on Wednesday afternoon, scoring a pair of goals to get Cornerstone back in the win column with a 2-1 victory over Rochester. A goal in each half led to the victory as CU is now 4-3-1, 4-2-1 WHAC on the year and breaks the streak of three consecutive overtime games. A week from today, the Golden Eagles will be back in action against Aquinas for a home game played at AQ's field.
The Highlights:
- Cornerstone got on the board about is quick as you can scoring 36 seconds into the game after David Mawi stole the ball from the defender and passed over to Nate Kaercher to beat the keeper.
- Rochester responded in the 14th minute with Dmitar Stankovic scoring on the pass from Francisco Alvarez to tie the game 1-1.
- Rochester for the remainder of the half controlled a lot of the possession, recording 11 shots and five on goal, but Alan Roman kept the Warriors off the board to leave things tied 1-1.
- In the 64th minute, freshman Nate Kaercher found the net again, after doing it himself up the left side and placing the ball past the keeper on a tough angle.
- Late in the game a couple key fouls on Cornerstone gave Rochester a pair of free kick chances, but neither challenged Roman as the score remained 2-1.
- Nate Kaercher had a few more opportunities in the final minutes in search of a hattrick, but was just wide on a few shots.
- Cornerstone held on to earn the 2-1 victory and improve to 4-3-1 overall.
By the Numbers:

Nate Kaercher is now the only player on CU with multiple goals as he has three for the season and leads the team with six points.

What's Next?
Cornerstone's will have another week off before their next game as they will take on Aquinas for a home match that will be played at Aquinas' field on Wednesday, March 24 at 4 p.m.
