GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles suffered a tough 1-0 loss at Aquinas on Wednesday afternoon after the Saints found an early goal and held Cornerstone to limited offense. CU falls to .500 on the year at 4-4-1 overall and 4-3-1 in WHAC play. The end of the season does not get any easier for Cornerstone as they travel to NAIA (12) Indiana Tech Saturday, before hosting NAIA top 10 UNOH next Tuesday to conclude the regular season.
The Highlights:
- Aquinas held much of the possession early, earning three corners in the first 11 minutes of the match.
- AQ found the scoreboard in the 15th minute as Giuseppe Calabrese found the net on a cross from Theo Maye.
- The Golden Eagles first shot of the game came in the 38th minute as the ball went high off the foot of Allan Barrientos.
- The second half became much more physical as two yellow cards were handed out in the first three minutes of the period.
- Luke Blickley saw two shots and Allan Barrientos saw one more but all of them were wide as CU continued to trail 1-0.
- In the final five minutes CU was doing everything they could to find the net, pulling keeper Alan Roman up as he recorded a shot in the 87th minute that went high
- Cornerstone would hold off on allowing another goal, but were unable to find the net themselves as they fell 1-0 on the road.
By the Numbers:
7 – A total of seven yellow cards were handed out in the match, four on Cornerstone and three on Aquinas.
31 – 31 total fouls were called with 18 on Cornerstone and 13 on Aquinas.

What's Next?
Cornerstone's will have another week off before their next game as they will take on Aquinas for a home match that will be played at Aquinas' field on Wednesday, March 24 at 4 p.m.
