GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Sophomore libero
Patsy Morris joined the individual career honors this weekend recording her 1,000
th career dig as she led the team with 19 in a Golden Eagle sweep of Indiana Tech. CU has now swept five straight matches as they solidify the front runner position in the WHAC with a 17-2, 13-1 conference record. CU will continue the season vs. Concordia next Friday at 7 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Indiana Tech – 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-22)
- Cornerstone got off to an early lead highlighted by a 5-0 run that saw two Kayla Sauers service aces.
- The aces continued as Rylie Walters recorded back-to-back aces to lead 13-5.
- CU held the lead the rest of the way, winning set one 25-18 on an Indiana Tech service error.
- Set two was much of the same as Cornerstone led 7-2 that included a Bailey Cummings service ace.
- Another 5-0 run highlighted by a Brooke Nicholson and Kayla Clark block brought the lead to 16-7.
- Another block from Olivia Keelean and Brooke Nicholson won CU set two 25-17.
- Set three Indiana Tech came to play, taking an early lead 9-5 lead on a Taylor Paul kill.
- On the Kayla Clark serve, Cornerstone won nine straight points to regain the lead in set three, as Bailey Cummings and Jackie Stanko each had a kill in the run.
- Indiana Tech responded to take a 21-20 lead on an Amaya Anderson kill.
- CU scored five of the last six points, ending the match with a Bailey Cummings kill to win set three 25-22.
