GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – For the sixth consecutive match, Cornerstone earned a sweep with a 25-14, 25-12, 25-19 win over Concordia that has secured the team's first WHAC Regular Season Title since 2016 and sixth in program history. Cornerstone is now 18-2, 14-1 WHAC on the year as they will turn around quickly with a non-conference game vs. Spring Arbor at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Mol Arena.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 Concordia – 0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-19)
- After some early errors the Cardinals took an early 5-2 edge on CU.
- CU responded to score four of the next five points to tie things at six, highlighted by a block from Olivia Keelean and Brooke Nicholson.
- Cornerstone then went on an 8-0 run to take command on the Rylie Walters serve, as Bailey Cummings had a pair of kills to make it 16-8.
- The Golden Eagles used an 8-1 run to end the set and win 25-14 with a block from Alexis Angus and Olivia Keelean.
- After an early trading of points, Cornerstone used a 4-0 run to go on top 12-7. Bailey Cummings recorded two more kills in the run.
- Kaylee Dykema earned a kill to conclude a dominant set two as CU won 25-12.
- Kaley Vaughn came in at setter in set three, and Cornerstone was able to take an early 6-2 edge on a block from Kaley Dykema.
- Concordia responded to take the lead 10-9 with a kill from Kaitlin Veihl.
- Cornerstone immediately responded with a 5-0 run capped off by a kill from Jackie Stanko.
- The lead was never relinquished as Bailey Cummings recorded a kill to win set three 25-19 and the match 3-0.
