WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Cornerstone struggled to find the back of the net for the third time in four games as they fell to (RV) Grace College (Ind.) 4-0. The Lancers got off to a fast start scoring all of their goals in the first half. The Golden Eagles were able to put more pressure on Grace College in the second, taking 7 shots and forcing Lancer goalie Matteo Conci to make 4 second half saves.
The Highlights:
- Grace College got off to a fast start when Martim Cardoso found the back of the net in the 5th minute.
- Both teams had some strong offensive possessions and shots on goal in the next 10 minutes, but the Lancers were able to double their lead in the 13th minute after an Ethan Vigario goal.
- It was all Grace for the next 20 minutes as they recorded two goals, scoring their third goal midway through the first half, and their fourth, and final goal of the game, on a strike from Connor Pugh.
- Cornerstone had a few close shots to end the first half and couldn't capitalize on two Christian Galloway corner kicks.
- In the second half, Cornerstone attempted a few more shots than they had in the first half, getting that started on an Allen Barrientos shot that was saved in the 56th minute.
- After a few more shots on goal for the Golden Eagles, play got rough as Kyle Barba was booked with a yellow card in the 71st minute.
- Jules Peycelon finished the bookings with a yellow card in the 89th minute.
- With this loss, Cornerstone falls to 1-4-1 on the season.
