Women’s Volleyball moves sweep streak to three with win over UNOH

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Golden Eagles continued their dominant stretch with their third consecutive sweep and fourth straight win 25-21, 25-21, 25-10 over Northwestern Ohio. Cornerstone is now back at .500 at 8-8 on the year and they remain perfect in conference play at 3-0. CU ends a three-game home stretch vs. Concordia on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before heading on the road for WHAC play over the weekend. 

Game Recap: Cornerstone – 3 UNOH – 0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-10)
  • Cornerstone got off to a slow start in set one, falling behind 5-1. 
  • CU went on a 6-0 run later in the set, powered by three blocks from Aubrey Lenz and Kaylee Dykema to go on top 16-10. 
  • A UNOH kill from Aaliyah Alexis brought the set back to just a one-point CU lead at 18-17. 
  • Cornerstone immediately responded however with a 5-0 run that saw a block from Kylie Barron to make it 23-17. 
  • Kylie Barron later recorded the set sealing kill to win 25-21. 
  • Kaley Vaughn came into set to begin set two and would finish out the match along with many other Golden Eagle subs getting in. 
  • Kaylee Dykema recorded a big kill to give CU an early 10-5 lead in set two.
  • UNOH took the lead later in the set on a Taylor Reust service ace. 
  • A pair of kills for Kaylee Dykema spurred a 4-0 CU run to go back on top 21-16. CU later ended the set with a block from Olivia Keelean and Kaylee Dykema
  • In set three, the Racers ran out of steam as the Golden Eagles serve was outstanding behind Mia Kahler to spur a 12-1 run. 
  • Kaley Vaughn recorded a great kill later in the set that helped Cornerstone cruise to a 25-10 set three victory and earn their third straight sweep. 

By the Numbers
.320 – Cornerstone hit a team best .320 in set three. 
7/6 – Kaylee Dykema led the team with seven kills and six blocks on the day. 
3 – Mia Kahler saw playing time and served well leading the team with three aces. 
28 – Each team recorded 28 kills in the match, but CU held the Racers to a .018 hitting percentage. 
14 – Kaley Vaughn led the team with 14 assists. 
 
What's Next?
Cornerstone ends a three-game home stretch on Wednesday vs. Concordia at 7 p.m.
