GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – After giving up an early goal, Cornerstone was never able to recover getting outshot 16-2 in the second half as they fell 3-0 in the match. CU has now dropped four straight matches and moves to 1-7-1 and 0-2-0 in the WHAC. The Golden Eagles will have a chance at redemption in conference play as they travel to Concordia on Friday, October 1 for a afternoon match starting at 1 p.m.
The Highlights:
- Just five minutes into the game, the Saints found the net scoring on an Andrea Ghiggini shot off the pass from Theo May.
- After the goal, Cornerstone proceeded to have the next five shots including two by Dani Carrillo with one hitting the crossbar.
- A total of 12 fouls were called in the first half with one AQ yellow card, but despite CU outshooting the Saints 9-6 they trailed by a goal at the break.
- In the second half, Aquinas got off to a hot start as Mason Sills took a shot that hit the post and went wide.
- In the 61st minute, the Saints found an insurance goal as Jackson Moore found the net on a pass from Baptiste Bissessur to make it 2-0.
- Jackson Moore again found the net for Aquinas on a pass from Theo Maye in the 71st minute to make it 3-0.
- Christian Galloway was later handed a yellow card, the first for CU in the game, in the 74th minute as the physicality continued to increase.
- Aquinas dominated the second half, holding the Golden Eagles to just two shots in the half and outshooting CU 16-2 in the period as they downed Cornerstone 3-0.
