MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Cornerstone continues to struggle on the road and at neutral sites in the early season, dropping five straight now after a 3-1 loss to (24) IU-Kokomo and a 3-0 loss to (25) Bethel University. CU is now 3-6 on the year as they will have a week off before hosting the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invite where they will play four more games in the span of two days vs. Rochester, IU-South Bend, St. Thomas, and IU-Kokomo again.
Game One: Cornerstone – 1 IU-Kokomo – 3 (21-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-25)
- Cornerstone fell behind early in set one, 7-3 after a Alexa Roberts service ace.
- CU scored six of the next seven to take a 9-8 lead as Olivia Keelean recorded a pair of kills.
- After the two teams traded points, IU-Kokomo scored four of the last five points to win set one on a CU service error, 25-21.
- IU-Kokomo got off to a strong start in set two, scoring seven straight to force CU into a timeout at 7-1.
- After the timeout, Cornerstone scored six straight to tie set two at seven that saw a block from Jada Thomas.
- The Cougars were able to respond however taking a 20-13 advantage on a kill from Jocelyn Hack.
- CU tried to rally but it was too little too late as an attack error gave IU-K the 25-21 set two win.
- Set three, Cornerstone got out to a great start taking a 9-4 edge on a Patsy Morris kill and a Rylie Walters service ace.
- Cornerstone would not relinquish the lead throughout as they won set three 25-19 and hit .227 in the set.
- Another slow start would doom CU in set four however as IU-Kokomo went on top 7-2.
- Cornerstone would never recover as the Cougars went on a 6-1 run and eventually won the set on a CU attack error, 25-15 to take the match 3-1.
Game Two: Cornerstone – 0 Bethel – 3 (18-25, 16-25, 15-25)
- In set one of game two, Rylie Walters recorded a big kill early to cut the deficit to two at 11-9.
- CU was unable to take the lead at all in the set despite a late 3-0 run that was capped off by a kill from Kathryn Detweiler, falling 25-18 in set one.
- Rylie Walters recorded a service ace in set two to tie things at six.
- Bethel responded with an 8-3 run that was capped off by a block from Maddy Payne to give the Pilots a 14-9 edge.
- Bethel continued to pour it on, winning set two 25-16 on a kill from Hannah Weiss.
- Kylie Barron recorded an early kill in set three that put Cornerstone in front 6-5.
- Bethel responded with a 5-0 run to go on top 10-6.
- CU responded with a 6-1 run to cut the deficit to just two at 16-14.
- Cornerstone scored just one of the last 10 points to fall 25-15 in set three and lose in straight sets.

What's Next?
Cornerstone returns home for another tournament next weekend as they will compete in the Aquinas/Cornerstone Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
