ALLENDALE, Mich. and MARION, Ind. – Cornerstone runners traveled to Indiana Wesleyan for the IWU Invite, and CU field athletes made their way to Grand Valley for the Mike Lints Alumni Meet. There were many PR's this weekend, with multiple athletes placing top ten all-time in the CU indoor record books.
Luke Pohl and
Colten Covington automatically qualified for the NAIA national championships in the 5000m while
Haley Nieuwkoop qualified in the 5K.
Men's Results – Indiana Wesleyan:
In the men's 5000m,
Luke Pohl ran his new indoor PR of 14:39.31. That time moves him to 3
rd on the CU all-time indoor list and automatically qualifies him for the NAIA championships.
Colten Covington also automatically qualified for nationals with a time of 14:50.73.
Grant Gayan also recorded his PR, running in 15:28.12.
In the 60m finals,
David Dwumfour-Poku took 2
nd place with a time of 6.95 and
Seth Stoltz took 5
th place with a time of 7.09. Both runners set PRs in the 60m. Dwumfour-Poku remains 2nd on the CU all-time indoor list, while Stoltz moves into a tie for 6th.
Luke Pohl improves his PR in the 1,000m to 2:34.37 to remain in 9
th place on the CU all-time indoor list.
Men's Results – Grand Valley:
Carter Sabin set a PR of 13.07m in the Triple Jump and moves to 5th on the CU all-time indoor list.
In the 35lb weight,
Nick Huynh recorded a PR of 16.00m (52' 5 3/4"). That throw for Hyunh ties him with Troy Eddy (2006) for 4
th on the all-time CU indoor list. This is the first ever tie in a throwing event on the all-time list.
Donnie Hurrle led the way for Cornerstone in the shot put throwing a 12.23m.
Women's Results – Indiana Wesleyan:
In the 5K,
Haley Nieuwkoop led the Golden Eagles with a time of 17:52.74 to automatically qualify for the NAIA championships.
Annika Shoemaker clocked in an 18:13.35 for an NAIA B standard while moving to 7
th on the Cornerstone all-time indoor list.
Cammie McConnell also joined that list moving into 9
th place all-time.
Anna Martin ran under 5:05 in the mile in back-to-back weeks with a 5:04.90.
In the 1,000m,
Nygia Pollard set a new PR, running a 3:07.54. That time puts her in 10th place on the Cornerstone all-time indoor list.
Women's Results – Grand Valley:
In the triple jump,
Kaitlin Essig set a new PR with a 10.65m jump. That jump put her at 9
th on the CU all-time indoor list.
Ava Muir recorded two PRs today, with an 8.94 in the shot put, and a 10.43 in the weight throw.
Ashley Verplank finished 4
th in the pole vault with a height of 3.56m, finishing only behind Grand Valley pole vaulters.
