LIVONIA, Mich. – Cornerstone hit a season high 16 threes behind seven from
Carter Nyp, but it was not enough as the Golden Eagles dropped their second straight game 89-84 at Madonna. CU is now 11-7, 5-3 WHAC on the year as the Crusaders have won six straight against Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles will travel to Northwestern Ohio on Saturday, January 8 as they look to end the skid for a 3 p.m. tip.

- Cornerstone got off to a hot start as Jonny Strube and Carter Nyp each hit an early three to score the first eight points of the game.
- Cory Ainsworth hit a layup and Carter Nyp hit another early three as Madonna took a timeout trailing 13-3 three minutes into the game.
- Carter Nyp continued to make the start to the game his show, hitting two more threes for a total of four in the first five minutes of the game.
- After leading 19-8, Madonna started to chip away, using a 12-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 20-19.
- Both offenses came to a screeching halt mid first half as no buckets were scored for over a two-minute span until the Crusaders saw a three go down from Brendan Young to make the CU lead just one, 26-25.
- MU big man Mark Mettie went 3-3 from three from deep to help the Crusaders hold a 42-41 lead at the half.
- Carter Nyp got his three-point rhythm back five seconds into the second half hitting his fifth three to give CU the 44-42 edge. Christian Rodriguez followed with a three for an early 6-0 Golden Eagle run.
- Madonna again had a response to CU trying to pull away, scoring 11 straight points to go back on top 55-50 with 15:10 to play.
- MU then started to hold the lead, increasing it to as high as eight with a layup from Ryan McMullen.
- Carter Nyp again along with teammate Luke Rowlinson capped off an 8-0 run with a pair of three balls that tied the game at 65 with 8:43 to play.
- Madonna hit a huge and-one after the game was tied at 65 and never looked back as Cornerstone could never regain the advantage.
- Jonny Strube hit a layup with 4:11 to play that put the Golden Eagles down just two at 75-73.
- Madonna responded with an 10-1 run to take an 85-74 lead with 1:24 to play, their largest lead of the game.
- Cornerstone found some late offense as they worked to come back, but it was too-little-too-late, falling 89-84.
