Game One – Cornerstone – 16 Judson - 3
- With a day off yesterday, Austin Hurt did not slow down, scoring the first run of the game in his first at bat with a home run to right field. Hurt improved to 9-9 in his last nine at bats with four HR's in that line.
- Outside of the solo HR, the game moved quick with Dylan VandenBerg and Judson starter Tommy Louch held their opponents scoreless through three innings.
- In the top of the fourth, Jordan Wenzel led the inning off with a single. Judson was very concerned about his speed and after a stolen base it cost them, as a throwing error on a pick-off attempt allowed him to score and make it 2-0.
- Later in the inning, Jake Collins scored on a ground out from Isaac Tayes after hitting a triple earlier to make it 3-0.
- After some small ball in the fifth inning, JC Salinas hit a grand slam that blew the game wide open at 7-0.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Judson finally got to starter Dylan VandenBerg, scoring two runs on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. VandenBerg continued to pitch well though under adversity getting out of the inning and recording just 65 pitches through five innings of work.
- The Golden Eagles immediately responded in the top of the sixth, scoring a run on a Jordan Wenzel bases loaded walk to go back on top 8-2.
- Austin Hurt was recorded out for the first time in four games, but in his next at bat he kept his hot hitting alive hitting a grand slam to increase the lead to double-figures. CU hit their second grand slam of the game to lead 12-2.
- Dylan VandenBerg was relieved in the sixth after allowing two baserunners to end his strong day with 5.0 innings pitched and two earned runs. Ben Cunningham came in and got three quick outs to keep the score 12-2.
- In the seventh, Austin Hurt broke the CU single game record for home runs with three, hitting his second grand slam of the day. He also broke the single game RBI record at Cornerstone with nine. The Golden Eagles improved their advantage to 16-2.
- Judson would get one run back in the bottom of the seventh to make it 16-3, but would still fall by the 10-run rule in seven innings.
Game Two – Cornerstone – 3 Roosevelt - 2
- Roosevelt slowed down the Cornerstone offensive barrage, as the two teams went scoreless through the first four innings of play. CU starter Adam Hotovy allowed just one hit and struck out two in the first four innings.
- In the top of the fifth, Jordan Wenzel and Austin Hurt each got on with no outs. Despite outstanding Roosevelt defense to get a double play, Isaac Tayes would double down the left field line to score Wenzel and breakthrough on the scoreboard.
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Lakers responded with an infield single that was sacrificed over and later hit in on an RBI single to tie the game at one.
- Using the sacrifice bunt and a balk, Landon Poll came in and scored on an RBI single from Ben Barnes that made the score 2-1 back in favor from Cornerstone.
- Once again, the Lakers had an answer, as Trevor Heinlein hit an RBI ground rule double in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at two.
- Starter Adam Hotovy continued his dominance with a nice 1-2-3 10-pitch eighth inning as the score remained 2-2.
- Jake Collins recorded a clutch RBI single in the top of the ninth for CU after Jordan Wenzel stole a base to get in scoring position to put the Golden Eagles back on top 3-2, needing just three outs to end the game.
- Adam Hotovy returned for the complete game with an easy 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth to earn the 3-2 victory in game two of the day.
