GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Weather was the story of the day as Cornerstone competed in day two of the Davenport Outdoor Meet. Wind and rain caused slower times across the board for athletes from every school, but that did not stop some Golden Eagles from solidifying their place in the CU all-time outdoor record books or earning personal records. "Despite the weather, our athletes competed hard in all their events," said Head Coach
Andy Wright. "We were able to fine tune some things as we head into championship month."
Men's Results:
In the 400m,
David Dwumfour-Poku improved his PR with a time of 49.72. That keeps him at 7
th place in the CU outdoor record books.
In the 100m,
Seth Stoltz was the top finisher for CU, finishing in 5
th place with a time of 11.18.
The Golden Eagles finished 3-6 in the 200m, with
Jadyn Courtney placing 3
rd,
Seth Stoltz taking 4
th,
Ross Hunter coming in at 5
th, and
David Dwumfour-Poku finishing in sixth.
In the 1500m, two Golden Eagles finished in the top three as
Nate Vruggink crossed the line in 1
st at 4:00.24, while
Grant Gayan took 3
rd 4:01.33.
Women's Results:
Braely Herrema set an outdoor PR in the high jump when she soared1.62 meters. Herrema just missed entering the CU record books in 10
th place by 1cm.
Finishing strong was
Halle Schnyders in the 100m, as she placed 2
nd in the field, running a 12.90 despite the wind.
In the 400m,
Sara Genzink took 5
th place, while
Kendra Montague finished in 9
th while setting a PR with a time of 1:04.36.
In the 400m hurdles,
Faith Kurtz led CU with a time of 1:10.30 while taking 3
rd place.
Chelsee Martino was close behind in 4
th running a 1:10.65.
What's Next?
