CU saw a school record, two auto qualifiers, and a provisional standard at Saint Francis in Illinois and at the Oakland University Last Chance Meet. Stay tuned to cugoldeneagles.com for the release of Cornerstone athletes and their events for national competition that will be announced later this week.
Men's Results:
The week opened at the Oakland Last Chance Meet where
David Dwumfour-Poku did not hit a qualifying standard, but he did break a school record in the 100m. Poku ran a 10.73 which passes Jeremy Underwood for the school record set all the way back in 2003.
At Saint Francis, the men's 4x800 team fell .5 seconds short of earning a national qualifying mark with a time of 7:44.52.
Luke Pohl in the 5000m moved to third all-time in CU program history with a mark of 14:26.59. This PR improved upon his already NAIA auto qualifying mark and puts him in great position for Gulf Shores.
Women's Results:
The pole vault highlighted the last chance meet at Saint Francis for the Golden Eagle women.
Ashley Verplank again hit an auto standard at 3.65m and finished third in the event.
Tatum Townsend punched her first ticket to NAIA nationals as well with a provisional mark of 3.55m in the event as well for a new PR.
