No. 22 Women’s Volleyball continues to roll with home sweep of Rochester

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Nearly everyone saw the floor as Cornerstone rolled to their 16th straight victory with a 25-19, 25-8, 25-8 sweep over the Warriors of Rochester on Wednesday evening. Service aces were the name of the game with 10 as the no. 22 Golden Eagles improve to 16-3, 7-0 WHAC on the year. CU goes back on the road on Friday as they will travel to Ann Arbor to take on the Cardinals at 7 p.m.  

Game Recap: #22 Cornerstone – 3 Rochester – 0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-8) 
  • Back-to-back kills from Kylie Barron got Cornerstone off to a strong start in set one, taking a 5-1 advantage. 
  • Aubrey Lenz recorded two service aces while Olivia Keelean recorded one in a 7-1 run that put CU on top 12-3. 
  • Some errors by the Golden Eagles allowed Rochester to sneak their way back into the first set at 21-17. 
  • CU would close out the set however as a kill from Rylie Walters and an attack error from the Warriors allowed the Golden Eagles to win 25-19. 
  • Set two on it was all Cornerstone. CU rattled off a 5-0 run early in the first that saw three Rochester errors. 
  • Kathryn Detweiler then got in the action helping spur a 10-1 run with two blocks and three kills as CU led 20-7. 
  • Cornerstone scored the final five points of the set on the Regan Vaughn serve to take set two 25-8. 
  • Patsy Morris kept the strong serving alive in set three with two service aces to put the Golden Eagles on top 11-5. 
  • The largest run of the game then came on Regan Vaughn's serve with 12 straight. CU saw many substitutes get some action in that run as Hannah Giere, Carly Bolser, Julianna Brower, and Maddi Osantowski all were involved in the action late in set three. 
  • Cornerstone took set three the same way they took set two, 25-8 to earn their 16th straight victory. 
 
By the Numbers:
10-1 – CU recorded a season second best 10 service aces to Rochester's one. Regan Vaughn led the way with a career high four of them. 
1 – Two freshmen recorded their first statistic today as Carly Bolser tallied a kill and Julianna Brower added an assist. 
55/30 – Aubrey Lenz is now 55 assists away from 2,000 with 30 assists today. 
 
What's Next?
Cornerstone continues the busy week heading to Concordia on Friday for a 7 p.m. match.
