GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Upset alert as men's soccer takes down (RV) Lawrence Tech 2-0. Cornerstone had everything going this match scoring in each half with the defense being the true star of the game not allowing anything for the Blue Devils backing each other up all match. Tyler Corstange netted the first goal of the match in the second minute as Jake Madak headed one in, in the 57^th minute. Cornerstone is now 4-8-3 (2-5-1) on the season as they will celebrate lone senior Caleb Griffith on Saturday, October 21 for senior night.

First Half

• The Golden Eagles came out aggressive as the first shot of the game resulted in a Cornerstone goal as Tyler Corstange found the back of the net off the pass from Calvin Curtis in the second minute to make it 1-0.
• Cornerstone had a break away opportunity in the 11^th minute as the shot was deflected resulting in a Cornerstone corner kick. The defense of the Blue Devils stopped the Golden Eagle opportunity.
• Dani Carillo had a great opportunity in the 18^th minute as hit shot just sailed over the goal post.
• The Blue Devils had an opportunity in the 20^th minute as the chip shot from Skander Larfaoui missed just wide right. Cornerstone escaped a big opportunity.
• Skander Larfaoui continues to be a player Cornerstone has struggled to stop as he had another shot on goal as Roberto Gutierrez had a nice save on the shot attempt in the 30^th minute.
• The Blue Devils had started to maintain control of the ball as Pedro Roses sends a shot on goal that was saved by Roberto Gutierrez in the 35^th minute.
• Dani Carillo had a great opportunity in the 36^th minute as his shot hit the left goal post and out of bounds as the Golden Eagles miss a golden opportunity.
• Cornerstone heads into the half leading 1-0,

 
Second Half

• Cornerstone had an opportunity in the 48^th minute with a corner kick but the goalie of the Blue Devils soared high to negate any shot opportunity for the Golden Eagles.
• Cornerstone extends their lead 2-0 after a free kick from Liam McHugh found the head of Jake Madak as the ball slowly rolled into the net with the Blue Devil defenders looking for a foul in the 57^th minute.
• The Blue Devils had a shot opportunity in the 61^st minute but was saved by Roberto Gutierrez.
• Cornerstone escaped a scary situation as the shot from the Blue Devil forward was saved by the Cornerstone defender as it got past Roberto Gutierrez in the 75^th minute.
• The game has continued to get chippy as Lawrence Tech's defender received a red card as the Golden Eagles have tried to stall down the clock with three minutes remaining.
• Lawrence Tech had a last life attempt to try and score a goal in the final minutes with a corner kick, but the defense of the Golden Eagles was unbreakable in the upset victory over Lawrence Tech 2-0.
