GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Sophomore Claire Meacham has earned Wolverine-Hooiser Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after a career day at the GVSU Holiday Open. Meacham placed first in a field of 24 athletes in the weight throw with PR throw of 16.64m that gave her a national qualifying mark. Her throw also put her second on the all-time indoor women's track and field list in the weight throw.

Claire Meacham is the first Golden Eagle Indoor Track and Field athlete to win the WHAC Track and Field Athlete of the Week award for the 2023-24 season. Track and Field will be back in action in the new year as they compete in the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open on January 13.
