GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – A second half goal from the Gray Wolves was the difference maker in the WHAC opener as Cornerstone falls 1-0. It was a chippy hard fought game from both sides with Lourdes coming out on top in the second half, winning their first match of the season. Cornerstone now falls to 2-4-2 (0-1) on the season as they will head to Siena Heights on Wednesday, September 27 starting at 7 p.m.

First Half
- Cornerstone had the first opportunity of the game in the 1st minute as a shot by Pablo Rodriguez was saved by the Gray Wolve goalie.
- It's been a chippy game to start as in the 8th minute off a Cornerstone foul, the shot by Lourdes was saved by Roberto Gutierrez.
- Cornerstone had back-to-back corners in the 15th and 17th minute but was not able to take advantage of either of them.
- After some bad passing from Lourdes, the shot by Boston Knapp just misses wide left in the 30th minute.
- Lourdes had back-to-back corners in the 36th minute but Cornerstone made sure no opportunity would come out of them.
- Cornerstone and Lourdes head into halftime tied 0-0. There are a combined eight fouls between the two teams, with just three shots for the game.
Second Half
- Lourdes came out aggressive in the second half as they had a shot on goal in the first 40 seconds that misses just left.
- Lourdes continues to be aggressive as they have had two more corner kicks in a span of two minutes by the defense of Cornerstone continues to diminish any opportunity for the Gray Wolves
- Cornerstone had a good opportunity in the 55th off a foul, but the deflected shot by Steven Stidham sails high.
- Another back-to-back corner kick opportunities for the Gray Wolves with little to show for in the 62nd minute.
- A one-on-one opportunity in the 64th minute for Cornerstone ended in a save for the Gray Wolves as the chip shot by Tyler Corstange found the gloves of the keeper.
- A great opportunity by Lourdes was stopped by a diving save from Roberto Gutierrez in the in the 71st minute to keep it a 0-0 match.
- All the aggressive play from Lourdes has paid off as Martin Coronel finds the back of the net to give the Gray Wolves a 1-0 lead in the 74th minute.
- It continued to be very chippy the final 10-minutes of the match as Lourdes played keep away to win 1-0 to open up WHAC play.
