HOLLAND, Mich. – The Golden Eagles traveled to Hope and found themselves down early in the second half and couldn't come back from it, falling 4-2.
Tyler Corstange continues where he left off from last season scoring his third goal of the year as
Seth Campbell adds a goal of his own in the loss. Cornerstone will take the weekend off before they back in action on Tuesday, September 12 as they take on Kalamazoo kicking off at 7 p.m.
Game Recap: Hope – 4 Cornerstone - 2
First Half
- It was a quick offensive start for Hope as the first shot of the game came in the second minute but missed wide.
- The game started to get chippy as Hope and Cornerstone had yellow cards in the 4th and 5th minute of the game with multiple fouls as well.
- Hope continued to be aggressive in this game as the shot by Matt Wimmer was saved by the Cornerstone goalie Roberto Gutierrez.
- Hopes aggressiveness finally paid off as the shot by Mario Hrvojevic found the back of the net off the pass from Ethan Jansen in the 18th minute, Hope now leads 1-0.
- Thanks to foul in the box, Tyler Corstange netted the penalty kick for his third goal of the season to tie the match 1-1 in the 20th minute.
- Boston Knapp had a great opportunity with a shot on goal but was saved by the Hope keeper in the 36th minute.
- Another foul in the box, but this time for Hope as Mario Hrvojevic netted his second goal of the year off the penalty kick to give Hope the 2-1 lead headed into halftime.
Second Half
- Hope has continued the aggressiveness into the second half as a shot on goal by Ethan Jansen was saved by the Golden Eagle keeper in the 49th minute.
- Hope extended their lead in the 50th minute as Cole Pauly would find the back of the net to make it a 3-1 match.
- After getting two assists earlier in the game, Ethan Jansen finds the back of the net for a goal to make it a 4-1 Hope lead in the 62nd minute.
- Seth Campbell gets his first goal of the year in the 67th minute off a corner kick from Pablo Rodriguez as Hope still leads 4-2.
- Cornerstone and Hope continued to have shots on goal, but Hope would edge out the Golden Eagles 4-2 to win the match.
