LIMA, Ohio – Men's Soccer struggled in conference matchup against UNOH on the road. The match started quickly for the Racers as they found two first half goals within the first 20 minutes of the match.
Ajani Vaughn scored for the Golden Eagles, but it proved to not be enough as they fell 2-1. The Golden Eagles will next be in action against Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, October 16
th at 7 p.m.
Game Recap: Cornerstone – 1 UNOH - 2
First Half:
- Calvin Curtis broke through the Racers back line early but could not finish his shot as it was poked away from behind to keep the match level in the sixth minute.
- UNOH found the back of the net first with a perfect cross from Reece Benjamin which was headed home by Natxo Sanchez in the 14th minute.
- Three minutes later Natxo Sanchez put another goal in for the Racers which gave them a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Cornerstone continued to find possession of the ball in the first half as they looked to find some momentum to build off, but the match stayed at 2-0 in the 30th minute.
- Ajani Vaughn gave the Golden Eagles some life in the match with a goal in the 33rd minute which brought the match to 2-1.
- The halftime score was 2-1 in favor of UNOH, but the Golden Eagles gained some needed momentum late in the half.
Second Half:
- The second half started quickly for the Racers with a shot that hit the post, but the Golden Eagles managed to keep the ball out in the 50th minute.
- Caleb Robinson looked to equalize with a shot from outside the box but went wide and the score remained at 2-1.
- The Racers Natxo Sanchez almost found the back of the net again in the 59th minute but his shot sailed just high.
- Roberto Gutierrez made a crucial save in the 67th minute to keep the Golden Eagles in the match as they still trailed 2-1.
- Cornerstone survived a three-shot flurry by the Racers and kept the match at 2-1 still in the 79th minute.
- The Golden Eagles were unable to equalize in the match which gave the Racers the 2-1 victory.
